Athenae Politeia — Reference Folder

This subfolder holds all reference material for the Athenae Politeia governance / voting protocol — the separate dApp built on the same BCH substrate as the Deviant wallet but with its own covenant stack and its own spec.

If you're a new session picking this up: start with athenae_protocol_technical_spec_v0_1.md §1 (Overview) + §5 (Bicameral Sortition Design) — that's the authoritative implementation spec, with status markers (✅ chipnet-validated / 🔧 specified-not-implemented / ❓ open question) on every line.

Status snapshot (as of 2026-06-06 / project snapshot 0127)

• Phases A–F + EndorsementCovenant — all ✅ chipnet-validated. Per-rank CitizenToken / adaptive RegistryState / bicameral ApplicationCovenant / cap+fail-fast / paid-regardless escrow / commit-reveal ballot / Elder freeze / rising-cost complaint / on-chain pre-gate.
• Phase G — 🔧 in progress: D-1 canonical templates (G.1 ✅ done — voting contracts registered in src/verify/canonical.ts + src/verify/voting-labels.ts with ADR-0008 trust labels); G.2 (TypeScript dApp SDK) / G.3 (dApp UI) / G.4 (regulatory pass) pending.
• Architecture decision — Athenae is built as a separate dApp, NOT as a wallet feature. The wallet's role is to be a good signing partner (per ADR-0008 verifier-not-authority). See decision discussion 2026-06-06.

Deferred decision — Greek-primary contract naming (parked 2026-06-06)

Decision: when Athenae work resumes, rename the auto-generated descriptive contract identifiers to Greek-primary names matching the classical reconstruction. Keep the English meaning + role in each contract's header comment so the codebase stays legible to readers without classical vocabulary.

Scope guidance:

• Athenae Politeia dApp — adopt Greek-primary names from inception. Header comments retain English meaning.
• P2P market dispute-court slice — has not yet started; can adopt the new names from inception (does not need to retrofit because nothing has been built against them yet).
• Anything already built against the old names — do NOT retrofit; the rename is forward-only.

When you open this folder in a new session

1. Read athenae_protocol_technical_spec_v0_1.md § 1–6 to get the mechanism in mind.
2. Read this README's "Deferred decision" section.
3. Cross-check wiki/voting-systems.md §6.15 for the implementation phasing status (which will reference back here).
4. Pick up wherever Phase G stands.

The Athenae stack is feature-complete on chipnet through Phase F + on-chain pre-gate. What remains is the dApp itself (SDK + UI + regulatory pass + canonical template promotion already done in G.1 + treasury wiring + lazy-voter instrumentation). All those are scoped in §11–§12 of the spec.
