Deviant Corpus — Snapshot 2026-05-25
This archive contains the Deviant project corpus as of 2026-05-25. The structure mirrors the corpus directory (00_corpus_directory/) with one additional section for strategic-intelligence material that is currently outside the catalogued corpus, plus source material and historical drafts.
How to navigate
Start with deviant_corpus-directory_FOR-corpus-navigation.html at the root of this archive. It is the authoritative index for the corpus — describes each document's purpose, audience, status, and cross-references. All links in the directory are clickable and point into the section folders.
If you want to read sequentially, the directory itself contains "reading paths" in Section VI suggesting orderings by reader type (newcomer to the project, technical implementer, comparative analyst, etc.).

Document status
Each document carries one of five status labels in the corpus directory:
- Published — released document, content stable. Includes Deviant — Presentation and Comparison (v09), Vol.13 (Bitcoin's history), Epictetus (Appearances of four kinds), v07a/b community announcements, v10 (Gold Standard Misunderstanding).
- Active Draft — in development, content being refined. Includes MBA Standard — Asset Taxonomy, Traditional Asset Types and Backing Standards, Legacy Financial System, Tech Spec v2.7, Business and Economic Model, BCH Baseline, Vol.14 — The Information Environment.
- Planned — entry exists in the directory but document not yet written. Currently: MBA Specifications Detailed Taxonomy (sophisticated readers), What "Crypto" Became.
- Personal — internal-use working reference (currently only the plain-language ABCD reference).
- Deprecated — superseded by newer document, retained as historical reference. Currently only the original Revenue Mindmap (v1.0).
Section-by-section notes
00 — Corpus directory
The single navigation file. Six sections (I–IV catalogued via TOC; V–VII shown in the body).
01 — Design and reference
Deviant — Presentation and Comparison (v09) — the project's central presentation document. Five sections: the two-column landscape, DEA's flagship properties, a recently-revised gold-standard comparison section, the closest existing analogue (Proof of Work), and the complete eight-class taxonomy.
Plain-language ABCD reference — personal-use working document explaining DEA and the Atomic Swap Mechanism (ASM) in plain language.
02 — Structural taxonomy
The MBA Standard — Asset Taxonomy (active draft, new in this snapshot) — the canonical baseline reference for the eight asset classes (DEA, PLA, MCA, MTA on the MBA side; PTU, PTL, MTU, MTL on the Token side). Pure structural definitions, no comparison to traditional finance. Includes the structural-decomposition table showing the regularized form (PUA, PLA, MUA, MLA, PUT, PLT, MUT, MLT) underneath the canonical names.
Traditional Asset Types and Backing Standards (active draft) — the descriptive taxonomy of existing financial assets, organized along the direct-value-vs-declared-backed axis. Used as the reference point for what "soft enforcement" looks like in legacy instruments.
03 — Historical and political-economic analysis
The Legacy Financial System (active draft, new in this snapshot) — historical-structural analysis of the legacy monetary system. Initial raw material captured: central-bank monopoly on money issuance, the debt-as-control mechanism, the CBDC marketing inversion, suppression of sovereign monetary alternatives, the Bitcoin moment. Needs development passes to verify historical claims and structure the narrative.
Vol.13 — Bitcoin's history and the block-size war (published) — long-form documentary account of the early Bitcoin period and the BTC/BCH split.
Epictetus — Appearances of four kinds (published) — analytic framework on how appearances (presentations) relate to underlying structure. Used as the philosophical foundation for the corpus's pattern of distinguishing institutional commitment from protocol enforcement.
04 — Technical documents and outreach
Deviant Technical Specification v2.7 — current authoritative specification of the MBA Standard for developers. Defines all eight asset classes (§2.4), the consensus rules, contract invariants, rate semantics, Atomic Swap Mechanism, classification algorithm, and wallet display rules. Note: §4 Asset Taxonomy was cut entirely in v2.6 (positioning content moved to the corpus comparison documents); the spec is now developer-focused and shorter (~8,100 words from a peak of ~10,500). Only v2.7 is included in this archive per the snapshot's scope decision; previous versions (v2.1–v2.6) are retained in the project's outputs directory.
v07a and v07b — Community announcements (published) — the developer-community announcement preview and its Reddit-format markdown version, both targeting r/bitcoincash readers.
v10 — The Gold Standard Misunderstanding (published) — sophisticated-reader treatment of why the gold-standard comparison fails to capture what DEA actually is.
05 — Business and economic model
Deviant — Business and Economic Model (active draft, new in this snapshot) — three primary revenue streams: voluntary marketing revenue share (founder-paid, tier-determined), wallet service fee (user-paid, 0.5% on protocol operations), premium features (user-paid subscription, anchored by DRA — Dynamic Rate Asset with Escalating Rate). Includes the marketing tier ladder, a worked example showing transaction split, and a forward reference to DRA's pending structural definition.
Revenue Mindmap (v1.0) (deprecated) — the earlier six-stream revenue model framed under "The App Store of token economies." Superseded but retained as historical reference.
BCH On-Chain Baseline — Phase 1 Sizing (active reference) — empirical baseline for revenue projections. Documents BCH's current on-chain reality (chain age, transaction-value distribution, active addresses) so projections don't drift into aspirational territory.
06 — Strategic intelligence
Strategic Intelligence V6 (uncatalogued) — a 13-tab strategic-positioning deck developed as project-internal vocabulary and framing material. Tabs: Origin / Mathematics / Environment / The Replacement / 29 Problems / Avalanche / Definitive Layer / 16 Novels / Lexicon / Word Power / Zero Architecture / Whitepaper / Comparison.
Note: This document is currently outside the catalogued corpus. It contains vocabulary that hasn't been fully integrated into the rest of the corpus (Mathematical Singularity Network, MES = Mathematical Exchange Standard, The Replacement Standard, Discovery as a status separate from "design"). The Origin tab opens with the foundational question that produced everything: "Is it possible to back assets without a counterparty?" Whether to formally add this document to the corpus directory as part of a Strategic Intelligence section is a pending decision.
07 — Project source material
DEVIANT_APP.pdf — original project-application material.
Architecture and ecosystem notes — architecture.md, asset-landscape.md, deviant_ecosystem_overview.md. Earlier-form working notes that informed the corpus documents.
Note on snapshots: Earlier versions of this archive included the project's engineering snapshots (0001–0021). They have been removed from this snapshot because the code has been modified multiple times since the snapshots were captured (May 15 2026), making them out of date relative to the actual implementation. The snapshots remain in the project's /mnt/project/ directory if needed for historical reference, but they should not be treated as current source material.
08 — Historical drafts
Earlier exploratory drafts and superseded materials. Not catalogued in the corpus directory; included here for archival completeness:

Pending work (open items)
These items remain in active development and are likely to produce updates to documents in this archive:
-
DRA structural placement — Dynamic Rate Asset with Escalating Rate is mentioned in the Business and Economic Model as a premium feature, but its precise placement in the MBA Standard's asset taxonomy is undecided. Three readings are open: (α) separate fifth class; (β) property modifier on existing classes; (γ) parallel quadrant of four schedule-rate classes. Once resolved, the MBA Standard — Asset Taxonomy, tech spec, and Business and Economic Model will need corresponding updates.
-
Traditional Asset Types and Backing Standards — needs Section IV (cascade of unbacking) and Sections V + VI + closing. Also pending: incorporating the corrected bank-deposit row content (two deposit types — standard immediate-access vs locked-term), the CBDC clarifier ("same digital fiat controlled by a different entity"), and refining the digital-fiat row framing.
-
MBA Specifications Detailed Taxonomy (planned) — sophisticated-reader expansion of the base MBA Standard — Asset Taxonomy with technical-implementation depth.
-
Legacy Financial System — initial raw material captured; needs development passes to verify historical claims (presidential assassinations, Ceaușescu, Bretton Woods termination details), structure the narrative, develop the central-bank-emergence history, develop the CBDC-as-commercial-bank-disintermediation thesis, and integrate the suppression-of-sovereign-digital-currency-attempts thread.
-
What "Crypto" Became (planned) — dedicated document on how the crypto category evolved from Bitcoin's original substance to the current speculative-token landscape.
-
Vol.14 — The Information Environment (active draft) — dedicated treatment of the discourse/media layer around the BTC/BCH split: the long reframe (cash → "digital gold"), media ownership (CoinDesk/DCG, The Block/Alameda, Bitcoin Magazine/BTC Inc), the grammar of persuasion (Alinsky/Bezmenov lenses, geopolitics stripped, motive left to the reader), the Roger Ver case, the two-accounts balance (Bier vs Ver), and the discourse-vs-structural-treatment gap. The Block-Size Wars chronology remains in Vol.13; Vol.14 references it. Draft:
03_historical_and_political_economic/vol14_information-environment_FOR-sophisticated-readers-and-media-analysts.html. -
Deviant Presentation refocusing — the v09 document's gold-standard section was significantly rewritten in this snapshot; broader revision of v09 to focus more tightly on MBA positioning is pending.
-
Revenue framing reshape — the Revenue Mindmap (v1.0) deprecation in this snapshot is partial; the full reshape of revenue documents to align with the project's deviation-point positioning is in Scope 4 (frame development pending in conversation before document revision).
-
Strategic Intelligence V6 status decision — whether to formally catalog the v6 mindmap in the corpus directory as a Strategic Intelligence section or keep it as a project-internal uncatalogued asset.
-
Older corpus files terminology sweep — earlier files in
08_historical_drafts/may use superseded terminology (OLA instead of PLA, open/closed mint instead of permissionless/managed, Deviant Managed Asset instead of Managed Certificate Asset). These were not updated as part of the active corpus work.
Versioning and history
This archive is a point-in-time snapshot. The corpus is under active development; later versions of these documents will diverge from what is included here. The corpus directory entry for each document includes a status and version reference that supersedes anything in this archive.
The tech spec has gone through seven major versions (v2.1 through v2.7) — only v2.7 is included in this archive. The version-history footer in the tech spec itself documents the changes between versions.
What this archive does not include
- Working/scratch files from the project's
/home/claudedirectory (which are duplicates of files in the corpus and source material) - The orphan notes file
deviant_taxonomy-source.md(working source preserved during the tech spec §4 cut; pending integration into the Traditional Asset Types document, after which it will be deleted) - Earlier tech spec versions (v2.1 through v2.6); only v2.7 is current
- The full /mnt/project/ tree (only the source-material subset relevant to the corpus)
Archive prepared 2026-05-25.
