Silent Mode 5e3e104694 Release pages: Theseus 0.3.77
- site/releases: 0.3.77 block above 0.3.76 with the Translator engine
radio, CF Bot Fight error page and Pithos 0.3.13 bundle, SHAs
  ab4135a9… (installer) + a01ad6b8… (portable).
- site/theseus and site-theseus-x: bump the download card to 0.3.77 and
the fallback hashes to match. The theseus-x page already fetches the
live manifest; the fallback stays in sync for offline reads and the
  Sia mirror.
- site/releases-manifest.json: 0.3.77 entry prepended for the main
manifest; the dl copy was scp'd and dl-latest.sh regenerated the
  /latest/ redirects on the VPS.

"changes": "Settings › Language grows a Translator engine row: pick between LibreTranslate (hosted — current default) and Bergamot (on-device, WebAssembly). Bergamot's runtime is not bundled yet so picking it today falls back to LibreTranslate with a one-time notice — see bergamot.x for the plan. Cloudflare Bot Fight 503s now land on a branded error page that explains the Electron TLS fingerprint and offers a one-click retry to the site's .bch mirror when one is published (original path preserved). A long-standing bug where cert errors during an HTTPS fallback were silently swallowed is fixed. Bundles Pithos 0.3.13 (menu reflows in setup order with the account on top, files waiting to upload are shown and go up on their own, s3d one-shot commands never open the database at once).",

"changes": "Pithos now opens at its own address: pithos.sia/your-user/your-drive/your-folder, signed in while your vault is unlocked, instead of a 127.0.0.1 address. Music keeps playing when you switch to another tab, since tabs playing sound are no longer paused in the background. A widened left panel now covers the page instead of squeezing it and the right sidebar, and the tab that was open when you closed Theseus loads on launch. Bundles Pithos 0.3.10 (icon/list/details views, a layout that fits the sidebar, a music player, an Account page and an update button) and Aegis 0.31.0 (the security audit fixes).",

"changes": "Previous tabs reopen reliably — Clear history on quit no longer wipes the session file, so a profile with that setting on no longer launches to a single home page. Extensions start when first used instead of every launch — Aegis + Pithos + the rest skip their boot work until a tab actually opens them, cutting cold-start CPU and RAM. Language picker becomes a modern floating overlay instead of the native Windows menu: rounded surface, acid accents on the current pin, 'Translate this page from X to Y' at the top when the page can be translated, 'Show original (<src>)' when a translation is up; the top strip holds only the languages the translator actually handles today (en, es, fr, de, el, ru) and the rest collapse into a 'More languages (translator coming later)' group that expands on click. Translator picks up language changes reliably — a page with no <html lang> no longer silently skips translation (backend auto-detects), and changing the language pin always re-translates the active tab even if auto-offer is off (the user asking for a new language IS the request to translate what they're looking at). Pithos 0.3.4 bundled: a built-in control panel for s3d, the Sia S3 gateway, with Sia-account labels, switching and restore. Aegis 0.30.0 bundled: dapp-bridge audit fixes + a WizardConnect signing path + DigiByte addresses that follow the chosen address family. Ariadne's Thread panel in Settings now carries Refresh / Install / Update right in the Status row.",

"changes": "A quick-unlock PIN for your password vault: set a 6-digit PIN in Settings › Passwords and use it instead of the master password, in Theseus and in extensions that need the vault. Three wrong PINs and the master password is required. Extensions can now open from the left edge, next to your quick links, and Pithos, the S3 storage control panel, lives there now, with a step-by-step setup that opens the Sia Storage approval page for you and can take your recovery phrase from your vault, so there is nothing to write down. The language chip now offers “Translate this page” and can translate pages automatically.",

On a slow or captive-portal connection the user would see several checks in the first 43 minutes; the new wording owns the retry so the behaviour reads as intended, not as a bug. "changes": "Pithos is now built in: a control panel for s3d, the Sia Foundation's S3 gateway. Open it from the extensions dock to run your own S3 storage on Sia: connect it to a Sia indexer, create access keys for your apps, browse, upload and share files, and watch uploads reach the network. Settings has a new Language page that gathers the website language, the offer to translate and the translation servers in one place. The translator now uses Silent Mode's own translation server at silentmode.st/libre, with libre.x and lingua.x as fallbacks. With Ariadne's Thread installed, Theseus reads Bitcoin Cash names from Ariadne's index instead of building a second copy of its own.",

Each extension's saved data was re-read from disk on every access, so with a large wallet store the window sat in “Not Responding” for up to 16 seconds after starting. Extension data now stays in memory and is saved in the background: on an affected profile the first page appears in about 1.5 s instead of about 17 s. Also new: an in-page translator for pages that serve only one language, with a list of translation servers you can edit in Settings › General; Silent Mode's own translation server is not online yet, so it starts translating once it is (no update needed).",

A tab you switch away from stops running (scripts, timers, audio, video) until you come back: right-click a tab and choose “Keep running in background” for music or calls, or turn it off in Settings › Performance. BNS name indexing moved off the browser's main thread into its own process, and a BNS name opens without waiting for the full snapshot download; the snapshot itself is now a public, read-only download in two copies. Menus and popups load on first use (about 100 MB less memory at startup), and the downloads, site-info and search-engine popups close when you click elsewhere. From this version on, the update check no longer misses a new release after a restart. The quick-links strip is reordered.",

"changes": "Security release. A website loaded into the Settings tab could read the password vault and change settings; Settings now never shows web content and its functions check who is calling. Add-on updates are accepted only from the signer recorded with the installed add-on, so an update channel can no longer swap a built-in add-on for someone else's code. Also: password autofill checks the page actually showing; pages can no longer silently read the clipboard, launch Windows apps or open local files; clear-history-on-quit really clears history; auto-update works on Windows accounts with non-ASCII names; a background tab's alert waits (marked in the tab strip) instead of jumping to the front; cross-site sign-in forms (OAuth, SAML, 3-D Secure) keep their data; edited BNS records are picked up without a restart.",

"changes": "Faster launch: session restore now paints the full tab strip from saved titles + favicons and loads only the active tab's page — every other restored tab lives as a dormant view and navigates for the first time when you click it. On a session with many tabs this drops the “not responding” freeze at start-up to roughly one page's cost. Privacy › Anti-fingerprinting › Language is now two modes (Automatic / Manual) matching General › Website language and the globe chip; the old Spoof-choose and Hide-en-US are gone, legacy saves migrate on open. Switching the language from the chip or either Settings row now reloads the active tab so you see the switch take effect without hitting reload yourself. Privacy › Location is three modes: Show real, Hide, Manual — Manual picks from a 50-country dropdown whose choice becomes the coordinates navigator.geolocation reports. Automatic follows your operating system; pin a specific language when you want a site to consistently serve you in Spanish or Russian even on a system in another language. Every setting stays in sync: the toolbar chip, the Website-language row and the existing Anti-fingerprinting Language row all edit the same underlying value. Every Settings page has an address you can copy and open, theseus://settings/privacy for example, with sub-pages for the longer lists. Search-engine icons ship inside Theseus and a custom engine's icon is cached once, so the toolbar, the picker and Settings look the same offline and opening the picker no longer asks a favicon service which engines you use; the default-engine control in Settings shows the icons too. A video's fullscreen now hides the toolbar and leaving it, switching tabs or closing the tab puts the window back (before, the window could stay fullscreen with no title-bar buttons); F11 toggles fullscreen. A name owner's subdomain rules (a blocked or redirected subdomain) now apply in Theseus for names it reaches directly by IP as well, not only through the gateway.",

"changes": "Every subsystem is now individually switchable and reports its own state. New endpoint http://127.0.0.1/api/status returns a full state report (daemon version + startup + policy + permitted TLDs + ports + upstream + gateway; index size + warm-start source; per-source enabled/lastAttempt/lastSuccess/lastError/counters for snapshotHttps + electrumWss + perQueryLookup + diskCache + localApi). C:\\ProgramData\\Ariadne\\policy.json extended with a `sources.<name>.enabled` block (hot-reloaded every 5 s alongside the collision policy) -- flip any source off to isolate a path or measure without it. Turning localApi off returns 503 with a hint pointing at the config file. Turning diskCache off skips writing bns-name-snapshot.json AND skips reading it at warm-start. Turning snapshotHttps off skips the HTTPS refresh; electrumWss off skips the WSS refresh; perQueryLookup off skips the per-query /api/name/ fallback. Includes 0.1.12 (orphan-safe upgrade + /api/tlds + /api/name/:n + /api/registry). Upgrades in place.",

"changes": "Tab switcher redesigned. The tab menu is now a full-screen grid of tab cards — favicon, host and title on each card, gold accent on the active one, close x on every card, tap to switch. Long-press for close / close-others / duplicate. + New tab tile always visible at the end. The old debug-menu style AlertDialog is gone. Tab-count button in the address row is squarer and switches to gold as soon as a second tab opens, so the switcher is discoverable at a glance. Same signing key; installs over 0.21.",

"changes": "Engine: Electron 44 / Chromium 152 (from 130) — a year-old engine had become a bot signal (DataDome-fronted shops served a block page), and the identity Theseus presents is now consistent on both sides (client-hint brands computed like Chromium, matching navigator.userAgentData, well-formed Accept-Language). Extensions: anyone who holds a BCDN name can publish an extension from theseus.x/extensions; Settings › Extensions › Community lists the catalog and installs with the publisher's signature verified against the name's owner in Theseus's own index. Settings › Plug-ins and › Extensions link to the new theseus.x/plug-ins and /extensions pages. Tabs: the tab strip lives in the title bar (Windows), a tab opened from a link lands next to its opener, the selected tab has an accent, the strip no longer blinks when another tab loads, the address bar follows the page even after you clicked into it, and holding or right-clicking Back/Forward lists the history. Also: HTTP sign-in prompt for sites behind Basic/Digest auth instead of a bare 401; local paths and file:// URLs open from the address bar; owner-signed DNS records (A/AAAA/MX/TXT via /api/dns) are fetched alongside on-chain records; the Ariadne's Thread card finds the installed resolver and answers in about 2 s. Includes everything from 0.3.47 and 0.3.48.",
