Pulls the Theseus Navigator hero (compass + title + search + .bch tip) back
to the top so identity + search stay the first thing on the page. Underneath,
the two-column desktop keeps the shape from 0.3.91 but drops the second
search bar: a narrow left column of stackable slot tiles (hello.bch,
sia.coin, Pithos.sia, Bergamot.X, + add) and a 3-column grid of nine Silent
Mode cards on the right. Right-click opens context menus — background edits
(change bg, icon size, add link/card, reset) on empty space, and copy image
/ copy link / open / edit / remove on any icon or card. Copy image renders
the brand mark to a 256px PNG and writes it with navigator.clipboard.write.
Slot order is HTML5 drag-and-drop between either column; schema is v5 and
passes through migrateCards unchanged.
Three changes to the desktop home that landed in 0.3.90:
- Hero header is back. The compass mark, Theseus Navigator title, tagline
and search sit centered at the top of the page, same shape as the home
before the desktop redesign. The Edit button moves to the top-right
corner so the hero reads as identity, not chrome.
- Silent Mode on the right is CARDS again, not just tiles. Each card
carries the brand icon on the left, title + one-line description
stacked, and a muted acid-colored badge on the right (Navigator /
Registrar / Code host / ...). Cards sit in a center-right column that
stops before the right edge, giving the left column breathing room.
- Your-links on the left is free-drag, OS-desktop style. Each icon
stores x,y and snaps to a 20px grid; dragging an icon moves it live
while the grid faintly shows underneath. The schema gains x,y on
Your-links items — unchanged for Silent Mode cards. Legacy icons
without x,y auto-layout in a tidy 2-column grid near the top.
Compass mark replaces the chain emoji in the hero. The on-disk schema
nudges to v4; v3 and v1 reads still migrate (missing x,y get an
auto-layout fallback at render time).
The new-tab page is now a two-column desktop. The right column holds the
curated Silent Mode X-family (Theseus.X, SilentMode.X, Sirius.X,
Hephaestus.X, Prometheus.X, Hermes.X, Helios.X, Ariadne.X, Aegis.X) with
real brand marks pulled from each product's own favicon or add-on manifest.
The left column is yours — hello.bch, sia.coin, Pithos.sia, Bergamot.X by
default, plus whatever you add. Icons pick up and move within and across
columns in edit mode.
Edit mode also carries per-column default-size pickers (S / M / L / XL),
six background presets + a custom colour + an image upload, and + slots
in each column. The Ariadne.X mark uses the real face/thread illustration
in ancient-Greek-pottery colours (terracotta rings on cream). The Aegis.X
tile matches the one the add-on itself ships.
The on-disk format moves from a bare array of cards (v1) to a v3 object:
{ version:3, iconSize, quickSize, background, sections:{ sm, q } }
On first read, a v1 array lands as sections.q and the Silent Mode column
stays at the code default. The remote home-cards.json URL is still
accepted as either shape; migrateCards() normalises before use.
The home / new-tab page declared no icon, so those tabs sat blank in the
strip; the compass mark is now inline in home.html as a data: URI (no file
path, no network). The silentmode.st copy of the Theseus page pointed its
icon at /assets/favicon.svg, which only exists on theseus.x — page-relative
now, so the tab shows the mark there too.
Two follow-ups on the light-mode acid work:
1) Every hardcoded #d6ff3d and rgba(214,255,61,X) in the browser
chrome and every addon panel now goes through var(--acid), so the
light-mode BCH-teal (#0AC18E) takes effect everywhere — not just
where var(--acid) was already used. Hex-with-alpha (#d6ff3d55 etc.)
converts to color-mix(); rgba() converts to rgb(from var(--acid)…)
for the same alpha with the current --acid hue. Chromium 128+
supports both. Files touched: chrome / settings / error / home /
approval / bchwallet / siawallet / screenshot (html + css).
Screenshot editor.js's #d6ff3d stays — that's the drawing colour
swatch, not UI chrome.
2) The Theseus button (.logo) and update chip (.upchip) become dark
BCH-navy chips (#253A49 background, #F8FDFF text) in light mode.
Previously the .logo hardcoded #d6ff3d text on a bright-acid tint —
invisible on a light toolbar. The dark chip stands out and gives
the light theme a distinct accent using the BCH secondary from
whybitcoincash.com's palette.
Two related visibility fixes:
1) Light-mode --acid → #0AC18E (Bitcoin Cash brand primary, from
whybitcoincash.com's palette per user). Direct swap from #088A66
(darkened variant) to the on-brand primary. Applied across chrome /
settings / error / home / approval / messages / bchwallet /
siawallet / screenshot editor. Dark mode's #d6ff3d is unchanged.
2) User-Agent no longer includes 'theseus-navigator/<ver>' or
'Electron/<ver>' tokens. Cloudflare's WAF was returning HTTP 503
'Service Unavailable' to any request carrying those (verified
directly against whybitcoincash.com — same URL, same headers, only
the UA differed; plain Chrome UA got 200, Theseus UA got 503).
Strip both tokens via a stockChromeUA() helper called from
applyAcceptLanguage(), which whenReady already invokes at boot.
Standard practice: Brave, Vivaldi, Slack all do the same.
Verified via CDP: navigator.userAgent now reports
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36
(KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/130.0.6723.191 Safari/537.36
— indistinguishable from stock Chrome.
Prior light-mode --acid was #3a5c00 (dark olive-green) — legible but
off-brand. The Bitcoin Cash brand primary is #0AC18E (a teal-leaning
green already used in bchwallet's --bch variable). Darken it a step to
#088A66 for AA text contrast on white (~5:1) while staying in the BCH
family — the light-mode accent now reads as "Bitcoin Cash green,
darkened for legibility" instead of an arbitrary olive.
Applied across every chrome page + addon panel that carries the light
override (chrome / settings / error / home / approval / messages /
bchwallet / siawallet / screenshot editor). Dark mode's #d6ff3d
untouched.
Home page's search-box placeholder was hardcoded "Search the web
(DuckDuckGo)", but the browser's default engine has been Startpage
for a while and any user can switch to another in Settings. The
"DuckDuckGo" claim then contradicted the actual engine that would
run the query (main.js routes through settings.searchEngine).
Fix: placeholder starts as plain "Search the web" and populates on
load with "Search the web with <engine.name>" via a new
window.home.getEngines() IPC (reuses the existing search-engines
handler). Silently no-ops if the preload isn't bound.
Also swapped the never-fires no-preload fallback URL from
duckduckgo.com to startpage.com so it matches Theseus's own default.
Previous #4d7300 (0.3.10) was still too light against actual white
backgrounds — several tint fills (rgba(214,255,61,X)) and unpatched
addon panels were making the effective color feel bright green. Two
fixes bundled:
1) Bump --acid in every top-level page's light-media block from
#4d7300 to #3a5c00 — same hue, ~7:1 contrast on #ffffff (was ~5.5:1).
2) Add the missing light-media --acid override to the addon panels
that were still resolving to #d6ff3d: bchwallet/panel.html,
siawallet/panel.html, and screenshot/editor.css (was #b4e024, now
#3a5c00 to match).
Dark mode unchanged. Tint fills (rgba backgrounds at low alpha) still
stay as-is — at 8–15% opacity the specific hue barely matters and the
darker foreground now dominates.
#d6ff3d on a #ffffff / #f6f8fb background sits at ~1.3:1 contrast — the
acid green went almost invisible any time the user flipped Settings >
Theme to light. Override --acid to #4d7300 in every chrome page's
prefers-color-scheme: light block. Same hue family, ~5.5:1 contrast
on white, still reads as the same brand color.
Also: chrome.html was missing --acid: #d6ff3d in :root entirely (every
site used var(--acid, #d6ff3d) fallbacks). Adding the real declaration
means the light override can actually take effect.
Files touched: chrome.html, home.html, settings.html, error.html,
approval.html, messages.html. downloads.html is a dark-only overlay
(hardcoded), collision.html already had a proper light-mode --bcdn.
Tint fills (rgba(214,255,61,X) at low alpha) stay as-is — the specific
hue barely matters through 8% opacity.
Verified live via CDP: getComputedStyle(--acid) returned #d6ff3d in
dark, #4d7300 after cfg.set('theme','light').

Home cards decoupled from the installer. Theseus now fetches
https://dl.silentmode.st/home-cards.json at boot and every 6h, caches
into <userData>/home-cards-remote.json, and applies it as the default
tier. Priority in loadHomeCards() is:
1. <userData>/home-cards.json (user edits — unchanged, always win)
2. <userData>/home-cards-remote.json (last successful fetch)
3. DEFAULT_HOME_CARDS (code fallback for offline first-boot)
On a successful refresh, main pushes the new list to every home tab
via the home-cards IPC — but only when the user has NO local edits.
The user's edit mode remains authoritative.
Content updates now happen by editing site/home-cards.json and running
scp + sia-upload. No browser build required.
Prometheus.X copy fix: "Decentralized App Marketplace" (was
"marketplace for BCDN-hosted apps" — the marketplace isn't BCDN-
specific). Applied to both DEFAULT_HOME_CARDS (fallback) and
site/home-cards.json (canonical live copy).
Deployed:
- scp installers + manifest + tools/ + releases/ + home-cards.json
to /opt/silent-mode/dl/ and /opt/silent-mode/site/
- sia-upload of both site trees
- verified home-cards.json served 200, manifest 0.3.0 live
Existing installs of 0.2.5 will surface 0.3.0 in the update chip and
also pull the new home-cards.json — so the "Decentralized App
Marketplace" wording lands on ANY current install (0.3.0+) the moment
this commit deploys, without waiting for anyone to install 0.3.0.
Wait — 0.3.0 is what CARRIES the fetch logic. So the auto-pull benefit
only kicks in from 0.3.0 onward. Users on 0.2.5 or earlier need to
install 0.3.0 once; from then on every home-card edit reaches them
without a new browser release.

Home page card grid gets a brand pass. Each title's TLD suffix (.X,
.bch, ...) is now styled in acid (--acid) with a soft text-shadow
glow. styledTitle() splits the domain on the last dot so capital
labels like "Theseus.X" render as ink + acid.
Card copy tightened per name:
hello.bch A small page on the blockchain itself.
siatest.bch A page with no server, backed by Sia.
SilentMode.X Infrastructure development for a decentralized web.
Theseus.X The Web Navigator - this browser's own address.
Sirius.X Register and manage BCDN names.
Hephaestus.X The forge - Silent Mode's code host.
Prometheus.X An app store - a marketplace for BCDN-hosted apps.
Helios.X Search engine for the decentralized web (in design).
Hermes.X Messaging - end-to-end encrypted over Nostr.
Badges: dropped the generic ".x" tag; each .X card carries its role
label instead. Palette assigns each role a distinct hue drawn from
the existing provenance colors, so the grid reads as families without
adding new brand values:
Infrastructure / Registrar acid
Navigator blue
Code host sia purple
App store srv teal
Search warn amber
Messaging err coral
Descriptions brighten from --mut to --ink on card hover so the ink
color reads as the "acid touch" the user asked for without adding
literal green blocks to every card.
Deployed: scp installers + manifest + tools/ + releases/ pages to VPS,
sia-upload of both trees, verified HEAD 200 + manifest 0.2.5.
Six user-visible improvements + supporting infra, all uncommitted from
the earlier session-in-progress state. Ships together in one release.
Chrome / tabs
- Same-size tabs: flex 1 1 0 with max 200px, min 60px. Container gets
overflow: hidden so many tabs shrink evenly instead of scrolling out.
- Drag-and-drop tab reordering. HTML5 drag events on each .tab; drop
side chosen by pointer x within target (Chrome UX). New move-tab IPC
splices the tabs array + re-emits.
Address bar
- Persistent history at userData/history.json capped at 500 LRU. Ranked
by host-prefix > url-prefix > contains > title-contains > recency.
- Floating suggestions dropdown (addressPicker WebContentsView) anchored
under the URL bar. Debounced 80ms input; ArrowUp/Down forward to the
picker via address-cursor IPC; Enter fires goURL; blur closes after
160ms so click-through registers. New files address-picker.html +
address-picker-preload.js. Cleared by existing clearHistoryOnQuit.
Password autofill (A.2 MVP)
- Green key chip in the address bar appears when the vault is UNLOCKED
and the active tab's host has matching credentials (exact hostname
match for phase 1; eTLD+1 upgrade queued as A.2.5).
- Click chip → floating picker of usernames. Click a match → main.js
runs a small script in the active tab: finds first visible
input[type=password]:not([disabled]), walks the same form for a
visible text/email/tel/url/search input whose name/id/autocomplete
matches /username|user|email|login|account|id/, fills both via the
native value setter + dispatches input/change so React/Vue-controlled
inputs update. New files pw-fill.html + pw-fill-preload.js.
- emitPwAvailability fires from pushNav + vault setup/unlock/lock so
the chip's visibility + count stays accurate.
Bookmarks bar
- Right-click context menu on the favorites bar. On empty area:
"Add current page" (or "Remove current page" if already saved). On a
specific bookmark: "Open", "Edit title…" (prompt), "Remove", plus
the add/remove-current entry. Uses a shared .ctxmenu style mirroring
the settings ctxmenu (dark/light aware).
- Empty-state text updated to mention right-click.
Home page
- Larger responsive card grid: auto-fill minmax(260-280px, 1fr) with
breakpoints at 600/900/1200. Cards have a subtitle line, a colored
badge (on-chain / Sia / server / custom), and edit affordances that
reveal only in Edit mode.
- User-editable set: Edit toggle reveals per-card ✎/✕ + a dashed "+ Add
card" tile. Modal for add/edit with title / URL / subtitle / badge.
Reset-to-defaults button.
- Persisted at userData/home-cards.json. New home-preload.js exposes
window.home = { getCards, setCards, resetCards, navigate }. IPC
handlers in main.js validate sender.getURL() matches our own
home.html — third-party pages see the API shape via the preload but
can't act on the user's local cards.
- Fallback set of 2 cards renders when window.home is unavailable
(e.g. opening home.html directly outside Electron for preview) so
the grid is never blank.
Docs
- TheseusNavigator/ROADMAP-identity-wallet.md — the phased plan for
the two independent strands (password manager A.2/3, browser wallet
B.1-6). Committed earlier this session; re-listed here for context.
- TheseusNavigator/SESSION-PROMPT-identity-wallet.md — pastable
kickoff for the next session picking up either strand.
Files added to build.files: address-picker.html,
address-picker-preload.js, pw-fill.html, pw-fill-preload.js,
home-preload.js.
- Light/dark/system theme (Settings > General) via nativeTheme.themeSource
driving prefers-color-scheme across chrome, settings, popover, and home.
- Search box redesigned: a magnifier icon opens the engine dropdown, the rest
is a wider typing field; styled to match the browser (was a raw <select>).
- Trimmed built-in engines to DuckDuckGo/Google/Brave/Bing/Startpage/Yandex;
custom engines still add/remove via "Add / edit engines…".
- WebRTC: the "WebRTC Network Limiter" extension can't run in Electron
(chrome.privacy API is unavailable), so its function is now a native
4-mode WebRTC IP policy in Settings > Privacy.
- Address-bar placeholder: "Ask a search engine or enter web address".
