Local Dev 13e4c6997c Licenses: MPL-2.0 for Theseus, Ariadne and Hephaestus; Apache-2.0 for Argus; CC BY 4.0 for the documents
The public repos carried no license, so nobody could legally copy or build
on the code, and the whitepaper's "free software" had nothing behind it.
Theseus and its companions take the Mozilla Public License 2.0, the
file-level copyleft Firefox and Brave use, which is compatible with every
component they bundle. The resolver and gateway libraries take Apache-2.0
so that other implementations of the registry can reuse them without
copyleft in the way. The protocol documents and the whitepaper are CC BY 4.0.

A third-party notices file lists what the browser ships and fetches, with
the source offer the GPL sing-box binary the VPN add-on downloads requires;
the matching source archive is now published beside the binaries. The
names and marks are reserved in TRADEMARKS.md, separate from the code
license, so a fork must ship under its own name. Settings › General says
the license and links the three files; the whitepaper says the same.

# Trademarks
The licenses on the code and documents in this repository cover the code and the documents. They do not
grant any right to the names and marks that identify the project, which are reserved so that people can
tell a Silent Mode release from anything else.
**Reserved names and marks:** Silent Mode, Theseus Navigator, Theseus, Theseus.X, Ariadne's Thread,
Ariadne, Sirius, Sirius Studio, Sirius Press, Aegis, Hephaestus, the compass mark, the Sirius star mark,
and the wordmarks, avatars and banners published under `site-theseus-x/brand/`.
**What you may do without asking**
- Refer to the project by name in text, including in reviews, articles, comparisons, package descriptions
and academic work, and use the marks to point at the project, for example a link button that opens
theseus.x.
- Say that your software works with, resolves, or was built for the Bitcoin Cash Name Registry as
implemented here.
- Fork the code under its license and keep the names inside the source, the commit history and the
attribution notices.
**What needs permission**
- Distributing a build that carries any reserved name or mark as its own name, icon or branding. A fork
is welcome; call it something else and replace the icons.
- Using a reserved name or mark, or a confusingly similar one, for another product, service, name on any
registry, domain, package or account in a way that suggests Silent Mode made or endorsed it.
- Altering the marks or combining them with other marks.
The protocol names are not reserved: BNS1, BCNR and Bitcoin Cash Name Registry describe the protocol and
may be used by any implementation of it.
